William P. Schrader, III – SRP Council

William (“Billy”) Schrader, III was raised in a farming family in Chandler, Arizona.  The Arizona farming legacy of his family dates back five generations on his father’s side and four generations on his mother’s side.  Billy has learned the value of hard work, duty to community, and respect for the land and environment from an early age.  He attributes much of who he is to the work he is able to do each day as a farmer.

Billy was involved in 4-H and the FFA Organization during his youth.  These are organizations he still supports to this day, and believes they were formative in developing his character.  Billy attended the prestigious Orme School in Arizona where he earned a valuable education including ranch management, holistic resource management, and business management skills.  He also studied at Chandler Gilbert Community College where he focused his coursework in business management and computer science.  Billy also attended Quantum Helicopter Training School in Chandler, Arizona where he learned to fly helicopters.

As a young man Billy started Schrader Transport Company.  The business was a compliment to the family farm and Billy brokered hay and operated as a logistics company where he ensured the reliable transportation of commodities such as hay, grains, and dairy supplies throughout Arizona.  Later Billy decided to focus his efforts on managing the day-to-day business operations at Schrader Hay Company and to work in the family businesses at Schrader Brothers Farms and Schrader Farms, Inc.  Billy currently manages sales of crops, the companies’ logistics operations, human resources, and the IT departments.  In April of 2014, Billy was elected to represent shareholders in SRP’s 10th District.

Billy and Kara Gibson Schrader were married in April of 2009.  They enjoy calling Chandler, Arizona home and love their community.  They both enjoy making time to give back to the community. Billy has spent time volunteering and serving as a donor for organizations such as:  St. Mary’s Food Bank; The Orme School; The Boy Scouts of America; The Girl Scouts of the USA; Goodwill Industries; and Folds of Honor.
